This week, we did some industry analysis on new company incorporations by region. Outside of London, the South East and North West saw the highest number of new company incorporations since May (6,121 and 5,857 respectively), so we decided to focus on those regions in this issue. Whilst the top 3 SIC codes of new companies are the same for both regions, with ‘Wholesale and Retail Trade’ topping the list possibly in line with the increase in delivery services, we can see differences arise beyond those. The South East, for example, has a much higher proportion of companies under ‘Other Service Activities’ (such as repair services and physical wellbeing services) than the North West (9% vs 5.2%). Whilst the North West has a higher proportion of new companies being set up in ‘Administrative and Support Service Activities’ (8.4% vs 7.5%), ‘Real Estate Activities’ (8% vs 7.1%) and ‘Accommodation and Food Service Activities’ (6.8% vs 6%).
