Taking a look at the makeup of companies that have gone into liquidation or administration since March in the South East (1,171) vs North West (1,451), we observed some stark contrasts. A much higher proportion of ‘Information and Communication’ companies have gone into liquidation or administration in the South East (19.1%) compared with the North West (9.9%) while ‘Construction’ and ‘Manufacturing’ businesses have been more impacted in the North West (13% and 6.8%) compared with the South East (11.8% and 5.7%). Furthermore, in the North West, ‘Accommodation and Food Service Activities’ companies have been more heavily affected than in the South East (8.7% vs 3.7%).
